The Wedding of River Song

Well. I suppose this has been a bit late in the offing. I always intended to complete this entry if only to satisfy my own need for completion. It just seems to have taken me three episodes into series 7 to get round to it.

Somehow I’ve managed to only watch TWORS once- when it was originally broadcast. This is my impression of my second ever viewing, which should be as fresh as it was the first time round. Should anyone care.

The initial purpose of this blog was to allow me to keep track of the various clues and leit-motifs and speculations, although it seems to have descended into a documentation of my irritations and criticisms and bitching about Amy. I don’t think I had any intention of continuing with this after this series, but since the new season is going so wonderfully so far, I hope to continue with these entries in the manner they were intended.

Let’s see what happens anyway.

So I found myself watching a repeat of Flesh and Stone for the first time since the revelation of River and Amy’s relationship.

I was somewhat focussing on what they say through the filter of hindsight to spot any clues that I’d missed.

Then there was the featured quote.

It’s been a while since I’ve watched this series- so I don’t know if I’ve just forgotten something- but at the time, I assumed that he was just being dramatic. Now, I presume the ‘twice’ is in reference to the loss of Amy also meaning the loss of River?

But this Doctor (who has either just escaped the Angels, or is on his farewell tour from The Big Bang- can’t remember just now) has yet to be made aware of the nature of Amy and River’s relationship, isn’t he? That doesn’t come until halfway through series 6.

Now that I think about it, he probably was just being melodramatic, but with the added retroactive knowledge making it all more significant than it actually was.

God I hate Steven Moffat sometimes.
